
The Exile
In 1960s Bengal, India, Gouranga is consumed by grief and guilt following the tragic suicide of his wife, Phoolmoni. Haunted by her memory and struggling with family tensions, he lashes out at his sister-in-law Nirmala, whom he accuses of contributing to his wife's demise. With his emotional state deteriorating, Gouranga leaves home in search of solace, and arrives at the secluded house of his friend Shyam and Nibaran Chakraborty. They advise him to take a job in a nearby village but warn him to avoid the perilous forest route. Ignoring their advice, Gouranga ventures through the forest, where he encounters a captivating tribal woman who invites him to stay for the night. As their interactions become increasingly charged, Gouranga must confront his own weaknesses and desires amidst the eerie forest and its dark legends. "The Exile" is a compelling exploration of human frailty, moral conflict, and the supernatural, set against the backdrop of a remote and mystically charged landscape.
